A Hard Working Truck Driving Man

about

True story about my father.

lyrics

I’ll never forget my tough old man, a man who made no strife.
His wisdom, humor, and courage and love for ev’ry--body in his life.
He taught us to laugh, and how to love, and to never tell a lie.
My Daddy worked hard ev’ry day of his life, he was a hard working truck driving man.

Out on the road day after day, to pay for our next meal.
From logs and lumber to cross country hauls, he treasured his eighteen wheels.
My brother’s and I would take our turns riding shotgun by his side.
We’d shift the gears and blow the horn, proud to go for a ride.

He said son, “No matter your job, you always answer to a boss.
The CEO has a board and the owner has his cross.
But you do your best, work as hard as you can and always be a man.”

He taught us to work, to do our best and regard ev’ry thing we tried
Early in the morning or late at night, he never tried to hide.
Coaching the team, watching the race, or simply taking us for a ride.
He loved his freedom, the wide open road, but he always took it all in stride, when.

He said son, “No matter your job, you always answer to a boss.
The CEO has a board and the owner has his cross.
But you do your best, work as hard as you can and always be a man.”

My Daddy worked hard ev’ry day of his life, he was a hard working truck driving man.
